It’s a good idea for denture wearers to visit their Denturist once a year for a check up. Denturists are specifically trained to examine your mouth and your denture to ensure that the two are working together in harmony.

There are two options for cases like this. We can fabricate an immediate denture for you that can be placed by your Dentist at the time of extraction. An immediate denture means that you are never without teeth but it will require adjustments. An immediate will become loose as your gums/ridges heal. And, once the gums are fully healed, the immediate denture will need to be rebased so that it can fit the new shape of your mouth.

The second option is to wait for the gums to heal before making a denture. This usually means waiting a few weeks before dentures can be made for you that are going to fit well. If a denture is fabricated before the gums are completely healed then it could become loose. Your Denturist is able to monitor your extraction sites and let you know when your gums are ready to support a long-term denture.
